4-H leaders understand life can be challenging, especially considering the traumatic events that touched every corner of Kentucky over the past few years. In response, the 4-H community is focusing on youth mental health and well-being.
To ensure every 4-Her is getting proper care, we're taking proactive steps. All of our dedicated 4-H agents are now required to attend the Mental Health First Aid for Youth training every three years. The National Council designed this program for mental well-being and offers a comprehensive, blended learning experience. Also, our extension professionals will receive access to a wealth of mental health resources, both online and in print.
One valuable resource 4-H leaders developed is the "Youth Strong: Supporting Youth in Times of Stress and Disaster Resource Guide."
This guide equips extension agents with the tools and materials they need to support youth during high-stress events and times of disaster. Extension professionals familiarize themselves with this indispensable resource through web-based training sessions. In addition to online access, we receive printed copies of the guide, ensuring we’re prepared to make a positive community impact.
The Kentucky 4-H community is committed to mental growth, development and overall well-being. As we navigate the challenges of today's world, we stand united in our mission to develop confident, capable and contributing members of our communities. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our youth, helping them grow into resilient and strong individuals who can face adversity with courage and hope.
